This is word-for-word the version of the rhyme I was taught by other girls around kindergarten age. No judgment here, just stating the facts.

The boys are rotten
Made out of cotton
The girls are handy
Made out of candy
The boys go to Cupider
To get more stupider
The girls go to Marcy
To get more candy bars

There was an older girl in my apartment building called Marcy. I think the other girl who told me this rhyme didn't know what "Mars" was (or any other planet) and so assumed it was really about Marcy. Sometimes you just substitute with a term you are familiar with, happens all the time.

comments

This is my first DW entry. I will need to fix some of those imported entries. I'm noticing I have a "livejournal" tag that may no longer apply to future entries.

I haven't decided yet whether to cross-post. I heard it's a pain because any comments you may receive will only go on the specific journal people commented on. Then again, I think you can import those later?

comments
